World of Rabbit: A Dreamy and Whimsical Sample Room

Creating a Fairy Tale Haven Inspired by Childhood Innocence

The busy life of adults gradually lost the innocence of childhood. The project was inspired by a public service announcement where people rediscover their childhood selves. Designers imagined themselves as little rabbits, with great ideals and a love for family and friends.

The World of Rabbit, designed by Ke Rong, is a unique and enchanting sample room that transports visitors to a whimsical world. With its bold colors and fairy tale-inspired design, every corner of this space reflects the playful and imaginative nature of a rabbit family. The use of various dolls throughout the room simulates the presence of forest friends, adding to the magical atmosphere.

In terms of materials, the designers opted for a terrazzo texture, utilizing different materials with varying properties to meet both design and functional requirements. The bedroom's setting wall features plush materials commonly found on beds, creating a dreamy ambiance that invites relaxation and tranquility.

The model room spans an area of 70 square meters and is located in the sales office of a real estate project in Shapingba District, Chongqing. The design takes into account the region's humid and rainy climate, ensuring that the materials used are resistant to corrosion and mildew.

Throughout the design process, Ke Rong and the team conducted extensive research, collecting insights from ordinary people's understanding of family and integrating them into the overall concept. Using 3D modeling software, they simulated and verified their design, ultimately evoking a sense of nostalgia and yearning for childlike innocence in viewers.

The World of Rabbit presented several challenges for the designers. Firstly, they had to strike a balance between the fairy tale and reality, using the image of rabbits to simulate human life and resonate with the audience. Secondly, the selection of materials with different specifications and performances posed a technical challenge. Lastly, the incorporation of unique and irregular surface modeling added complexity to the space.

The design seamlessly connects the living room, dining room, kitchen, and balcony, creating a cohesive and interactive living space. The balcony itself has been transformed into a small open stage, adding a touch of theatricality to the room. The curved top surface of the walls adds fluidity and visual interest to the space. The master bedroom exudes romance, with an open bathroom and cloakroom that enhance the sense of spaciousness and brightness. The children's room prioritizes storage space while maintaining complete functionality, and the use of arches adds a playful touch.

Photographed by Wang Xuelong from Far View Architectural Photography Studio in 2020, the World of Rabbit has garnered recognition and acclaim. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award recognizes designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. The World of Rabbit stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to creating a better world.
